From the Editor

Calling all residents. Requesting your ideas and input!

Recently I was asked to fill the important role of High View Park Newsletter editor. This is particularly appealing to me as it brings together several of my interests -- writing, creating and connecting with people to support a strong and engaged community.

Although I’ve been a High View Park resident for just about 10 years, I realize that is not long compared to those I’ve met who have spent lifetimes here building traditions and passing them on to their children and grandchildren. In my neighborhood walks with my dog Mini, I have met some of them and would love to tell their stories. It’s important to preserve High View Park’s history and traditions through documented story telling.

That’s where you all come in. We need contributors! If you want to write, we need you. If you have an interest in layout and design, we have a place for you. Perhaps photography is your secret passion…we welcome that contribution. Join our reporting team, or simply send me the facts or a lead, and I’ll assign the story to one of our reporters or write it myself. Our newsletter will only be as good as our collective community contribution.

And if you need additional reasons to participate, consider that you have the opportunity to see your name in print via the coveted byline.

Over the next few months, the team wants to experiment adding some new articles. We would like to see a balance of news articles that impact our community and home lives, social events/traditions and human interest stories like resident profiles and even a cooking column.

It’s easy to get involved. Simply e-mail at brach5555@verizon.net, call me at 571-218-5208 or catch me as I’m out walking with Mini.

Oh, and by the way, did I say this will also be fun? We will have lots of fun as we tell our stories, share experiences and build on the strong foundation that is High View Park.

Thanks in advance for your contributions!
