It’s a new year and a new day for High View Park. As we look forward, there is much to be done in 2016:
We need to build our association membership, creating a stronger voice in the Arlington community on issues that affect us like the location of Fire Station #8. Recent actions include the creation of a County Board Task Force whose members include two residents of our community, Marguarite Reed Gooden and Rodney Turner (see related story).
Our bylaws will be updated for presentation at a community meeting early in the year (details to come).
An important milestone, the 150th anniversary of High View Park, is celebrated this year. To honor this occasion, you’ll note some historic facts are included in this issue and will be highlighted in every issue this year. Your input and participation is sought in capturing these important moments in our neighborhood’s history.
We continue to focus on neighborhood improvement and engagement. As noted in our last issue, High View Park improvements will commence as early as April, the Calloway Cemetery will be enhanced, Lee Highway’s future development has begun, and we continue to monitor and report action on the I-66 proposed changes and tolls.
Finally, we need your engagement and help in making our neighborhood a better place. There are a number of ways you can support High View Park: become a member, attend Citizens Association meetings, and volunteer for one of several committees. Get involved! We have a small but vital group of volunteers who are working to make High View Park a wonderful place to live. Join us in 2016 as we honor the best and celebrate an even brighter future.
