Message from the President

By Alexandra Bocian

It’s back to school, back to work and back to regular meetings for your neighborhood association Board and Committee volunteers. There is much to do and a full agenda upcoming this year.

Firestation 8:  What a win for our community. Firestation 8 is staying in its current location thanks to your support and the hard work of the Task Force. Our voices resonated with the Arlington County Board. However, the details and implementation are still a work in progress. We are meeting regularly with Arlington County Manager Mark Schwartz to monitor progress and secure a temporary site for the firestation during the construction period. We will keep you posted on important updates as the situation is evolving.

High View Park renovations:  Yes, it is behind schedule, but enhancements are coming soon. See the related story in this issue for more details.

Halloween Party:  We will follow our established tradition of hosting a Halloween Party at JMCLA on Monday, October 31. As always, we need volunteers and donations.  See event details.

We need your involvement.  We have made a lot of progress in filling volunteer slots, but we still need more help. I hope you can find a bit of time in your calendars to fill some key positions. More information on current needs can be found in this issue and on our website at

Even if you can’t volunteer, I hope to see you soon at one of our neighborhood association meetings. Or, send me an e-mail at
