Letter from President Bocian

It seems like autumn has crept up faster than usual this year.  Perhaps it due to a cooler and wetter August, or just time passing faster as I get older – most likely a combination of both!  This is an exciting time of year for me, with children heading back to school, the football season getting underway and the Washington Nationals on the cusp of clinching the East Division guaranteeing playoff baseball next month.  Locally, we are nearing completion of the renovations to our beloved park, and changes are afoot for the I-66 corridor.  These are all things we will continue to watch as Fall officially begins on September 22nd.  In this first issue of the newsletter for a new citizens association year, you will find a preliminary calendar for the upcoming full body meetings as well as a draft agenda for our first meeting that will be on September 27th.  Speaking of meetings, I hope to see many of our neighbors at the meetings this year, and I want to especially encourage folks who have moved into our community to come and meet your neighbors and learn how you can help contribute to our home.  We have plenty of room for volunteers (several committees need your help!) and I want to note that this coming June will be an election for the next two-year term of community leadership.  Lastly, this is a good time to remind you about the change in the membership year that was instituted with the revised bylaws.  We are now paying dues on a calendar year basis, so if you paid in 2017, your membership will expire on December 31st and you will need to renew your registration to be eligible to vote in June.  Thanks for your interest in helping your neighborhood and I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming meetings!
