UPDATE: Proposed Bikeshare Stations

Arlington County is proposing to install two Capital Bikeshare stations in the John M. Langston/High View Park neighborhood. These stations are planned and owned by Arlington County and serve as a form of public transportation. The two proposed locations are at the Langston-Brown Community Center and at the intersection of George Mason Drive and 16th Street North, next to the Virginia Hospital Center.

Langston-Brown Community Center

This site, which is at the Langston-Brown Community Center, would serve both neighborhood residents and staff and visitors at the center. The station would provide access to nearby destinations such Ballston Metro (1.25 miles, or roughly a 8-12 minute bike ride) and Virginia Hospital Center (.75 miles to a planned future station there). Specifically, the County is proposing to install the station on what is currently a small grassy area in front of the building.

Virginia Hospital Center/George Mason Drive and 16th Street North

The site is at the northeast corner of the intersection of George Mason Drive and 16th Street North, next to the Virginia Hospital Center. It would serve numerous residences in the area, as well as employees and visitors traveling to or from the Virginia Hospital Center. The station would be slightly more than a mile, or about a 7-12 minute bike ride, to the Ballston Metro, which has its own bikeshare station. Numerous other destinations are served by bikeshare stations throughout Arlington, and several more stations, including the Langston-Brown station mentioned above, are planned for this portion of the County.

Specifically, the County is proposing to install the station alongside the sidewalk on the east side of George Mason Drive. Sidewalk width would not be affected.
