JMLCA To Sponsor a Neighborhood Leadership Candidate
By Patrick Thompson
The Leadership Center for Excellence – an outgrowth of Leadership Arlington – launched its “youth program” in 2003. The program is designed to enhance leadership skills for rising high school juniors and seniors. To date, more than 350 young leaders have completed the program, with almost 30% of them students at Yorktown High School. The two-week summer program meets at different public, private and non-profit locations throughout the county, exposing participants to diverse organizations and leaders.
This year, the JMLCA Citizens Association would like to work with members of our community to encourage applications. To spur interest, the association will sponsor one accepted applicant from our neighborhood. Although the program includes a scholarship participants are required to pay at least a small portion of their tuition.
For more information or to find an application, please visit leadercenter.org or JMLCA President Alexandra Bocian at firstname.lastname@example.org. The application deadline is coming up in May, so don’t delay!
